Stone Pine (Pinolumin)
STONE PINE EXTRACT
STONE PINE EXTRACT (Pinolumine)
Known as the Queen of the Alps, the Swiss stone pine is a long-living, slow-growing tree whose extract calms the complexion and imparts a youthful radiance. Stone pine extract can visibly even skin tone, reducing the appearance of redness and age spots.
STUDY #1: IMPROVEMENT OF SKIN TONE EVENNESS
The capacity of Pinolumin to homogenize the skin tone was evaluated on women presenting an uneven skin tone.
41 women aged from 32 to 65 years (mean age: 52.6 years) were separated into two groups comprising twenty and twenty-one volunteers respectively. Photographs taken before and after treatment with 2%.
Results show a clear increase in homogeneity.

STUDY #2: VISIBLE ANTI-REDNESS EFFECT
The calming effect of Pinolumin was evaluated on 10 women with redness on their face who were aged from 45 to 63 years (mean age: 54.6 years). Volunteers applied a 2% Pinolumin emulsion on one half of their faces and the corresponding placebo on the other half of their faces twice a day for a period of two months.
Results showed that Pinolumin both strongly and significantly reduced facial skin redness. In fact, the presence and intensity of local redness was decreased by:
• 25% after 28 days
• 40% after 56 days

STUDY #3: ANTI-REDNESS AND LIGHTENING EFFECTS ON AGE SPOTS
Pinolumin was tested on 22 women with age spots who were aged from 43 to 63 years (mean age: 54.3 years). Volunteers applied a 2% Pinolumin emulsion on one half of their faces and the corresponding placebo on the other half of their faces twice a day for a period of two months. Skin lightness (L*) and redness (a*) were determined on selected age spots by using a chromameter.
Results showed that Pinolumin both strongly and significantly reduced the visibility of age spots by:
• increasing skin lightness (+2.8% after 56 days)
• reducing skin redness (–10.5% after 56 days).
A higher lightness and a lower redness were observed for 95% and 77% of the volunteers respectively. Therefore, Pinolumin equalizes the skin tone by correcting local redness and also redness in age spots, which leads to a more uniform skin.
